YOU CAN IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE AT INTERVIEWS

Preparation:

1. Ensure that you know the exact time and place of the interview, the interviewers full name and other members of the panel if appropriate.
   

2. Find out about the school/centre/company so you can show your interest and knowledge throughout the interview. The Internet is an excellent source of information to draw from.
   
   

3. Refresh your memory about your past teaching posts. Ensure that you can accurately describe your most important achievement.
   
   

4. Prepare the questions that you will as at the interview. You can determine whether there is room for growth or development that you are seeking.
   
   

5. Dress conservatively and pay attention to all the facets of your grooming and dress. You may like to consider the culture of the centre/school.
   
   

6. Be prepared to answer such as your career aspirations. Why you would like the teaching position at this school/centre.

• Do arrive on time.
  
  
• First impressions are very important.  Your evaluation begins the moment you enter the building so ensure you present a professional manner with whomever you meet.
  

• Do greet the interviewer/s by her/his surname.

• Look alert and interested at all times. Be a good listener as well as speaker.

• Do maintain eye contact.

• Do give clear answers and relate them to your other teaching experiences.
  
  
• Do not make derogatory remarks about past or current colleagues or employers.  Employers are looking for people who are team players and who have a positive attitude.
  

• Present yourself as if you are 110% motivated to get the job.

• Reiterate your interest in the position.
  
  
• Thank the interviewer or his/her time and consideration of you.

• Leave promptly and courteously.

• Remember to call Education Personnel and describe how the interview went.

• Relax in the knowledge that you have given a great interview.
