found out about Education Personnel through the government site
‘Teach NZ’. I decided to register with them because they
always answered emails, came across as professional, helpful and
friendly. Education Personnel gave advise on how to make my move
smoother such as extra information for registering quickly and
effectively for paper work necessary in NZ and web links to sites of
interest such as renting and buying a property. I also found a
lot of general information about schools in the Education Gazette. Arriving in New Zealand to work at Raphael House, the school has been very supportive. I have been made to feel welcome in school hours and have been included in events. I have on occasions felt very lonely coming out to New Zealand initially without my family especially when I didn’t have my own transport.. Accessing computers especially my personal home emails has been an expensive and an unsatisfactory experience. We chose Wellington due to the Steiner Education that is offered here. Wellington is a lovely city which seems to have a lot going on with regards to classical music and the arts. The public transport system is lacking, which is a shame as the trains must have some of the best views in the world! I would advise teachers to go through a recruitment agent as I got more interviews using Education Personnel than when I tried doing it myself.
